Classes start as early as next week for college bound students. If your student is a first timer, living away from home can be a bit of a shell shock considering adjustments to simple things like living and showering. We’ve compiled a list of the 6 most essential toiletries for college students.
Bathrooms are generally a small single stall with smooth walls with no shelving to rest toiletries. That’s where a shower caddy comes in. It needs to be large enough to hold all showering products (shampoo, conditioner, soap, shaving cream, razor, loofah, toothpaste, toothbrush, dental floss, etc), have a sturdy handle to withstand use all year and have drainage holes in the bottom. Bonus points if the shower caddy can hold a container of cleaning wipes, just in case.
This shower caddy is available from Target and has pockets for everything you’re going to need.
Over the Door Hooks
Here’s a sneak peek of one of our 10 new products debuting soon: a sleek bamboo over the door hook! Towels, hoodies and jackets can get hung out of the way behind the door. If the dorm room has an ensuite bathroom, capitalize on this and buy several over the door hooks to maximize space. Mail this to your student once it arrives, they’ll get good use out of it.
Shower Flip Flops
Showering with flip flops is a necessity to ensure foot fungi doesn’t spread to your student. Rubber flip flops are inexpensive and should last the entire school year as long as they’re dedicated to showering only. Gym-goers and campers will be used to this experience, but first-timers will get used to it pretty quickly.
Sandals from Old Navy.
Our STORMp3 is water-resistant and it’s small size is perfect for sticking into a shower caddy. Just keep it out of a direct dream of water and it will play for hours on end. Send your student with a few spare sets of AA batteries, because they’ll be able to take it everywhere around campus with them. Bonus points for sending an iTunes or Amazon giftcard so they can buy new music to put onto it.
